Cultural Domestication – Instinctual Desire features six contemporary Czech artists expressing their creative and interpretive concepts through a variety of artistic media. Each of the artists are directly linked to their cultural heritage through their professional and creative pursuits, even as they flourish in the broader global artworld.
While the artists, Jiří Černický, Milena Dopitová, Zdena Kolečková, Alena Kotzmannová, Jan Mančuška and Jiří Příhoda are in residence at the University of Toledo, they will share their artwork, along with their ideas and insights through a variety of public lectures and open discussions. Dr. Michal Koleček will also be joining us for lecture and symposium activities. As a critic, curator, educator, and Vice Dean for Science and Foreign Affairs at J.E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, in the northern region of the Czech Republic, Dr. Koleček brings a wealth of experiences to the events.
