"The history of art that we have known for a long time is the history of European art— since the beginning of the 20th century — also North American art. However, cultural space is much larger and movements of art much more complicated, and when one starts thinking about history of art in other geographical frameworks, one gets a radically different picture of what art is, and what it does.
